Facsimile reproduction of the 54 plates of the codex preserved in the library of the Escorial, the work of the Portuguese miniaturist Francisco da Hollanda (1517-1545), the result of the artist's trip to Italy and in particular to Rome between 1540 and 1541: monuments, sculptures, bas-reliefs, landscapes, in b/w, sepia or coloured (the reproduction of frescoes from the Domus Aurea is splendid). The 54 plates are followed by an essay on the author and the codex and by the description of the individual plates. In the Colophon: Tirada especial de 250 ejemplares para America y Filipinas.
