Can antique furniture become contemporary? The Cooperativa Di Mano In Mano, together with designer Andrea Ghisoni, invite you to rediscover the timeless charm of antique furnishings through a setup that respects and enhances their essence. Anticontemporaneo awaits you from April 6 to 14 at the store in viale Espinasse 99.
Antiques on display
With the exhibition “Anticontemporaneo”, we aim to reinterpret antique furnishings in a contemporary living environment.
We at Di Mano in Mano, who have been involved in recovery, restoration, and sales of past furnishings for twenty-five years, bring the furniture: the reassuring solidity of a Manzoni-style bookshelf, the compact rigor of an Empire safe, and the welcoming softness of an early 20th-century Persian carpet, just to name a few.
And what about the location at viale Espinasse 99, the first and historic showroom of Di Mano in Mano, a scenographic point of interest located in the outskirts of the Milanese Varesina district in Municipality 8, which serves as the backdrop for the event. If you’ve never been there, just this is worth a visit: guaranteed WOW effect!
In collaboration with the designer
This is not the first time we collaborate with designer Andrea Ghisoni, founder of Studio Intervallo, who designed the setup for this exhibition: a perfect blend of antique, modern, and contemporary furnishings that recreate an interior with familiar vibes, almost a hyper-realistic installation where one can imagine and rethink their own home.
“Given a wall, what happens behind it? (Jean Tardieu). In this case, a house is born, a true domestic space with walls, passages, entrance doors, and windows that light it up with natural light” says Ghisoni. “A small apartment featuring a dining room and a living area that conveys the potential of antique furniture in what could be a real contemporary home”.
A pre-Fuorisalone in our own way
The city of Milan is already buzzing with preparations for the Fuorisalone with its thousands of proposals and events dedicated to cutting-edge design. “Anticontemporaneo” kicks off the season with an equally innovative proposal: giving new life to the value and uniqueness of antique furniture by integrating it into a living space that respects both beauty and functionality.
Interior design, quality, recovery, sustainability: there are many reasons to come visit us, and we look forward to seeing you. See you soon!
