HOME INTERIOR – Kitchen & Living Room

FURNISHING A KITCHEN AND A DINING ROOM

Furnishing every room in the house with the idea of making it unique through a mix of classic and modern pieces fosters creativity in finding solutions that are not only aesthetic but also functional.

Let’s consider the most used rooms in our home: the kitchen and the dining room, where the space allows for a dedicated area.

For centuries, these spaces have been central for “family reunions.” But today, we are witnessing an evolution of traditions and new dynamics emerging in response to new lifestyles.

There are many reasons for this change, starting with the removal of architectural barriers such as walls, which create multifunctional spaces.

Integrated kitchens, for example, often include islands or tables that can serve as both food preparation areas and spaces for dining or meals.

In the proposals we’ve highlighted, the classic element not only contrasts with the modernity of the designed solutions but also creates a connection between the present and the past.

The simplest and most stylistically striking combination is between antique tables and modern chairs. Or between modern chairs / modern tables with buffets or antique cabinets.

In our showroom, Di Mano in Mano, you will find numerous furnishings that will perfectly meet your needs.

Alongside the environments we’ve showcased, we’ve proposed items from our vast exhibition.

Walnut extension tables from the 19th century, shown in both rectangular and circular versions. A Cabinet produced between the 1600s and 1700s in Baroque style, made of poplar wood dyed walnut, offers ample storage space in a dining room characterized by a modern glass table.

Not only antique tables but also modern chairs can be interesting for a combination if you already have the antique piece.

Here we present a beautiful 70s-80s design product: a set of 6 chairs designed by Mario Bellini for Cassina.

The essential design, and the leather as a natural covering material, harmoniously complements the antique style.

Let’s not forget lighting, another key factor in defining our environment and enhancing certain aspects.

In this area too, our proposals are varied, offering both beautiful design products and antique lamps.

In case of lack of space in the kitchen, gathering the family and guests for lunches and dinners in a separate room, preferably adjacent to the preparation area, will be the most suitable solution if the house allows it.

In this case, the dining corner in the living room will also be used for this purpose.

The old criterion, which already in the 60s/70s led families to eat every day in the kitchen and use a separate space for meals with guests, still seems relevant and functional for the purpose.

In the images we have selected for the dining room, the antique element always coexists and complements the classic one.

There are some items that can unexpectedly define the space, such as a golden baroque console with an attached mirror next to a modern glass table.

Also in this case, by browsing through our virtual exhibition, you will find numerous items starting from consoles, to antique mirrors and modern tables.

However, let’s avoid exaggerating or making mistakes with the additions. We need to consider the proportions of antique furniture, which are often difficult to match with modern apartments, and always think about the following factors: existing structure, proportions, and especially daily use.

Every space must be composed by following four essential factors: its structure, the surrounding environment, the people living there, and the functions the house must perform.

Sometimes it is much better to choose a beautiful item with the right shape and proportions, such as a rug, a painting, or a vase.

In this regard, we invite you to visit our gallery of complements, collectibles and art by Di Mano In Mano.
