Welcome back to the eleventh appointment with our blog Planet Hambient. Today, we are presenting the decor of a dining area between the kitchen and living room: in a modern setting, our proposal is always an overlap of antique furniture with modern elements.
The centerpiece of the composition is a beautiful mid-20th century table, with large dimensions. The structure is made of ebony-stained wood, which matches the tinted glass tabletop. The perimeter band made of different wood creates a contrast in color with the structure and a reference to other furniture in the setting.
We decided to pair 6 chairs designed by Umberto Mascagni produced in the same years as the table. The color of the legs matches the table, while the seat and backrest, padded and covered in vinyl material, create a bright contrast with the ochre color.
An antique baroque-style canterano with 4 drawers is placed on the wall behind the table. A splendid example from the mid-1700s, it is characterized by finishes of the structure and drawers in ebonized wood that recalls the craftsmanship of the table. The front and sides are veneered in walnut burl. The drawers offer good storage for table linens and silverware.
Under the window, we have placed a Renaissance-style travel trunk made in the 19th century. A decorative as well as functional element, it blends into the created environment, renewing the style search we aimed to create. You can read its description in the suggested link.

On the walls, a series of paintings selected from our art catalog, which we invite you to browse through the link provided. They decorate the living space, enhancing its style. In particular, we have chosen a large oil painting on canvas by contemporary Russian artist Dmitry Anatolievich Holkin, displayed above the chest of drawers.
To the left of the central wall, on the adjacent wall, we have chosen another oil painting on canvas board by artist Eugenio Levi, depicting a still life.
On the right side of the central wall, relative to the chest of drawers, we find a drawing in pencil by Fausto Melotti “Project for Sculpture” on watermark paper, below which is a small work by Nikas Safronov “Saint George”, both dated from the 20th century.
Four antique oil-painted panels are displayed on the right wall. Produced in the 19th century, they depict pastoral scenes.
This concludes our XI appointment, and we renew the invitation for the next episode of the Mano in Mano blog “Planet Hambient”, a journey through classic and modern furniture.
