Vintage Styling Pills: what to wear at Christmas

Hello friends! With Christmas around the corner, we find ourselves once again talking about vintage clothing and its styling, this time with a bit of lightness. In this article, we will propose three looks for the holidays, to copy or buy at our Di Mano in Mano store in Cambiago.

So, how do you dress for Christmas? Well, easy (maybe). But how do you dress for Christmas with a 100% vintage and second-hand wardrobe?

We suggest three very wintery and very Christmas outfits, perfect for a celebration evening with friends and family. The keyword is relaxation, yes, but with style. The three looks represent three different personalities. Let’s see them together.

“Laid back” Christmas

Also called: the relaxed one. She wants to be as comfortable as possible in view of the “big feast” (who can blame her). Knitwear is therefore the ideal choice for a Christmas styling: it’s warm, comfortable, and adapts to the body and full bellies.

But if we want to give her a fashion touch, we could dress her in a suit, which, especially if it’s knit, is not an obvious choice at all. There’s something about the repetition of textures, prints, and colors in suits that can easily be transformed into an ironic element. And with this vintage orange knit suit, we are flying, in terms of irony.

But she rightly wants to add accessories to make the outfit less basic. So we suggest a hat that emphasizes the irony of the outfit: a vintage beret in the same color as the suit. And it works!

And for the glam touch she’s striving to add to honor the holidays, we make it easier for her with a vintage handbag with golden chain and strap.

Look details:

  • Vintage orange knit suit, size Small, 25€.
  • Vintage handbag with golden chain and strap, 15€.
  • Orange wool beret, 10€.
  • New stock boots, size 40, 28€.

“I am creative and I know it”

The creative one naturally chooses more extravagant pieces, and she’s always the one who dares a bit more than those around her, at least in terms of clothing. We propose a wonderful vintage red velvet dungaree that is a bit like Santa Claus, but how beautiful it is. She approves.

She loves color contrasts, so we add a light blue silk blouse, soft and to be worn with the cuff buttons undone and a vintage Balenciaga scarf with print, to give the look a little creative twist.

The shoes we suggest are the classic element that brings the whole look back to a Christmas mood: vintage black pumps with a comfortable heel and slightly squared toe. And she feels like she’s expressed her sparkling self just enough.

Look details:

  • Vintage red velvet dungarees, size XS, 10€.
  • Balloon vintage light blue blouse with collar and buttons, silk, size 38, 15€.
  • Balenciaga silk scarf with print, 40€.
  • Vintage black pumps with squared toe and comfortable heel, 30€.

“Evergreen classics”

She can’t give up on typical winter elements and the Christmas dress code. The colors we suggest are therefore black and gray, although we allow ourselves to play a bit with the textures.

The shirt, vintage, has a very special cut and combines a gray base fabric with black velvet applications in contrast. Not bad!

The pants are wool, with an evergreen cut with a high waist and wide leg. They politely pick up the gray from the shirt and feature a micro pied-de-poule print all over.

Again, we add some details of light, although very subtle, to get a more Christmas-like feel. A wonderful vintage handbag with a silver handle and vintage silver shoes with a comfortable heel.

Her classic side is definitely satisfied! But never banal!

Look details:

  • Vintage gray shirt with black velvet applications, size 42, 20€.
  • Vintage wool pants with pied de poule pattern, size Large, 30€.
  • Vintage handbag with silver handle, 40€.
  • Vintage silver shoes, size 38, 50€.
