Mixed technique on paper. Signature and date in the lower left corner. Moina MacGregor Mathers - sister of the French philosopher Henry Berson - married Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers in 1890, founder of the 'Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn' - one of the most important and influential organizations of occultism and mystery of the century. First follower and affiliate of the movement, Moina used her pictorial skills in the visual translation of her husband's visions. Her painting was filled with dreamlike contents and later she added also references to the Egyptian symbolism and spirituality when the movement focused specific attention to the rituals dedicated to Goddess Isis. The drawing is presented in frame. 20th century.
