Oil painting on canvas. Small-scale reproduction of the famous painting made in 1545 by the Italian painter Tiziano Vecellio and held at Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte in Naples. The myth depicts the sensual Danaë lying on a bed with a cloud above her representing Zeus. Danaë was seduced and became pregnant by Zeus (in Roman mythology Jupiter), who, inflamed by lust, descended from Mount Olympus to seduce her in the form of a shower of gold: to the right there is Cupid with his bow witnessing the scene. The painting is presented in revival frame. A trace of signature on the back. Late 19th century.
