Description

Important historical work that analyzes the events of the Republic of Venice from its origins to the Treaty of Campoformio, which is followed up in vol. 13 from the chronological series of all the Doges from the beginning to the end of the Republic. The publication of the work coincided with the years of the rebirth of the Republic and the siege of Venice in 1848/49: proof of this is the dedication of the work, reported in the first 4 volumes, to Daniele Manin, President or First Dictator of the government of Republic of Venice; the dedication disappears in vol. 5, published in full restoration by the Austrian government in 1850.
