Additional Information

Designer: Archimede Seguso

Archimede Seguso (1909 - 1999) was an Italian master glassmaker, distinguishing himself in the processing of heavy glass. He immediately began to work in the Barovier glass factory, which was transformed in the 1930s into the Barovier Seguso & Ferro blow shop (where the artist Flavio Poli collaborated with considerable importance). In 1946, Archimede Seguso founded his "Archimede Seguso" artistic glass factory. He reused ancient blowing techniques such as the famous "Filigrane", called "Piuma" and "Merletto" as well as experimenting with glasses with superimposed colors and strong chromatic contrasts in the "Sommerso" technique. He exhibited his works at the Venice Biennials, the Milan Triennials and many other exhibitions. In 1982 he participated in the exhibition of the Thousand Years of Glass in Venice at Palazzo Grassi and at the Correr Museum, with more sculptures. In 1989 a solo exhibition was dedicated to him in New York at Tiffany & Co.
