Volume in good condition. Elegant full leather binding: framing with three gilded fillets on the plates, spine with 5 raised bands with title, rich friezes and date in gold, rich gilded frieze framing the inside plates: some very light peeling on the lower casing and on the lower edges of the plates, small shortcomings on the front zip in correspondence with the nerves of the back, a scratch on the skin of about 8 cm. to the front plate. Gilded cuts with traces of dust. Ex libris label on front pastedown. Well preserved cards.

Of this edition of De Maistre's work (our copy in elegant nineteenth-century binding) 210 numbered copies have been published: 20 on Papier de Chine, 20 on Papier Whatman and 170 on Papier de Hollande; our copy bears the number 30 and is therefore part of the edition on Papier Whatman and therefore contains the 6 etchings of Hédouin in double copy, protected by tissue paper (Colophon: les exemplaires en papier de Chine et en papier Whatman contiennent les gravures en double épreuve , avant et avec la lettre). Our specimen is further enhanced by an illustrious provenance: in fact, it comes from the library of the Chateau d'Ermenonville
