Precious full red leather binding with titles and very rich gold friezes on the spine with 5 raised bands, elegant framing with gold fillets on the plates, backplates framed by leather margins with elaborate gilded friezes, in good condition: slight peeling on the casings and on the margins of the plates, minimal scratches and pressure marks on the plates, traces of dust on the margins and small dark spots on the plates; the outer edge of the rear plate of vol.8 is particularly burnished. Gilded cuts with traces of dust. Well preserved leaves, slightly browned, with rare foxing, more intense on the first and last pages of the volumes. Texte en Français

Important first edition of the complete works of De Musset printed in a limited edition “dédiée aux amis du Poëte” on Grand Papier d'Hollande: our copy bears the number 402 imprimé pour M. Bartholoni, Député au Corps Législatif. The text is accompanied by 29 planches as indicated on the title page: “Ornée de 28 dessins de M. Bida et d'un portrait d'Alfred De Musset d'après l'original de M. Landelle gravés sur acier sous la direction de M. Henriquel Dupont for the premier artists”; each planches is protected by a talking tissue. De Musset's works are divided into: Poésies (vols. 1 and 2), Comédies et Proverbes (vols. 3,4 and 5), Nouvelles et Contes (vols. 6 and 7), Confession d'un enfant du siècle (vol .8), Mélanges de littérature et de critique (vol.9), Oeuvres posthumes (vol.10).
