Description
Bust of the Roman emperor Caracalla in terracotta manufacture of Signa, Signa (Florence) 1899-1901. Copy of the famous Caracalla Farnese bust, dated to the early 3rd century AD. and kept at the Nation Archaeological Museum of Naples. Our bust features the manufacture stamp on the back and side, one of which is also flanked by the catalog number (103). The latter allowed us to indirectly go back to the dating, having identified in the general catalog of cultural heritage a bust of the Roman emperor Caligula manufactory of Signa inventoried with the n ° 104, belonging to the first production nucleus of the manufacture and datable between 1899 and 1901.
