In età romana la presenza di marinai e commercianti alessandrini favorì l'introduzione del culto egizio di Iside in Campania. Il cuore pulsante della mostra sono le attestazioni di tale culto nei Campi Flegrei - con materiali di recente ritrovamento - a Pompei, Cuma e Benevento. Protagonista del percorso di mostra è anche la ricchissima documentazione del tempio di Iside di Pompei e, al di fuori dei santuari, numerosi ritrovamenti di materiali documentano la diffusione del culto anche in ambito privato, in particolare a Pompei ed Ercolano. In seguito alla conquista dell'Egitto da parte di Augusto, si diffuse inoltre l'egittomania che pervase le pitture, le decorazioni, gli oggetti di faïence, le suppellettili e i monili.
