Antique Painting The Resurrection of Lazarus 1844 Oil on Canvas

Oil painting on canvas. At the bottom signed Cornienti and dated 1844; on the reverse writing attributing to Cherubino Cornienti. It is not possible to confirm this attribution to the important nineteenth-century painter, an exponent of Romanticism who produced portraits, historical scenes but also various religious subjects. The work presented here proposes the Gospel episode of the Resurrection of Lazarus, with an oriental setting suited to the subject. The restored and relined work is presented in a period frame.

Oval Painting Landscape with Figures Oil on Canvas XIX-XX Century

Oil on canvas, applied on hardboard in the second half of the 1900s. The painting takes up the pictorial ways of the eighteenth century, with a decorative cut. In a peaceful landscape, with an architectural structure on the right and the green valley with the river opening on the left, two figures walk along the path, a woman with her bundle of clothes and the wayfarer with a saddlebag and a stick. The work is presented in a chronicle style.

Antique Female Portrait French School '700 Painting Oil on Canvas

Oil painting on canvas. French school of the eighteenth century. On the base of the column to the right, there is an inscription with the woman's name, age 86 in the year of the portrait ("Marguerite Paree agèe 86 ans en 1762"). The canvas, with signs of restoration and relining, has a rather marked crack.

The Announcement of Defeat at Waterloo

Oil painting on canvas. French school of the 19th century. The scene, set in the poor bedroom of an elderly war veteran, who is crying in his bed, sees his family telling him the sad news of the defeat at Waterloo, as can be deduced from the sheet of newspaper in the woman's hands, on which the name of the historic location where Napoleon Bonaparte was definitively defeated. The canvas shows signs of previous restorations, in particular the patch corresponding to the female figure is clearly visible. It is presented in an early 20th century setting.

Antique Painting with Landscape Oil on Canvas XIX Century

Oil painting on canvas. At the bottom left there is a signature traced very lightly and not decipherable. There is a plaque on the frame attributing the work to Jean-Baptiste François Pater (1695-1736), which is considered inconsistent. The landscape develops near the mouth of a river into the sea; on the left there is the landing directly to a group of houses; on the right a rowboat is leaving the tree-lined shore, with two scantily clad figures. Relined, the painting is presented in a late 19th century frame.
