Description

Splendid guide to the city of Venice and the islands of the lagoon published without indication of publisher, but presumably by Antonelli, in 1831 with 32 chalcography plates drawn and engraved by Antonio Lazzari (1798-1834), specialized in views of Venice, and delicately watercolored . This edition was followed in the following decade by two others, one in 1832 with black and white plates, and one in 1836 with the indication Tipografia di Alvisopoli. The guide is introduced by two engraved title pages, the first with the title and the second with the indication "XXXII main views of Venice" inserted in a view in which the allegory of the city stands out against a background in which the Bucintoro and the island of San Giorgio. Each plate, animated by small figures, is preceded by a description enclosed in a frame.
