Description
Mirror in carved and gilded wood in Baroque style, Italy, late 19th - early 20th century. Cimasa composed of a coat of arms depicting a pair of flowers with five superimposed petals, surmounted by the "Corno Ducale", headgear worn by the Doges of Venice. At the upper extremities there are two bare-chested female figures placed sideways, while at the lower extremities a pair of seated lions, always represented in profile. The perimeter decoration is completed by large carved acanthus leaves, partly constituting a development of the aforementioned figures. In the innermost section of the frame there are curl, foliaceous and anthemium motifs. regilded.
