Description

Printed in the unmistakable handwriting of the Poet, this edition of the erotic poem in sestinas without indication of publisher or date (but Mondadori, 1931 or 1932) represents a counterfeit of the original edition, printed in only 200 numbered copies. The pleasant one is Elena Sangro, a silent film star, very well known at the time. The text is interspersed with words in ancient Greek that are then explained by the poet in the appendix to the text in contemptuous “Notes for the Beoti, and for the Beotic tardiness of the Italians. Stupet inscia turba”. The title is followed by a quote from the poet Ser Bonagiunta Orbiciani: "Your Piacenza is more pleasing than another pleasant one; however I like you".
