Description

Tuscan neoclassical suite, consisting of a chest of drawers and two bedside tables. The chest of drawers has a disappearing door that hides three drawers with bronze pulls inside, the bedside tables with a drop-down top and an opening door hide the compartments where the toilet ceramics were housed. Tall truncated pyramid legs ending with elegant turnings and inlaid with maple and Indian walnut in the shape of leaves, support the furniture veneered in dark Indian walnut with inlaid borders in maple, boxwood, chestnut with geometric motifs, in the center of the door of the bedside tables a rosette is inlaid, on the door of the chest of drawers a basket of flowers; the tops of the bedside tables have white marble set in an inlaid border of various woods on the chest of drawers instead it is simply supported. Filaments on the marbles of the bedside tables. Original hardware. In plate XXX of the "Furniture Warehouse ...." there is a model of chest of drawers similar in colour and which has a door not divided into drawers.

Main essence:

Maple

Hard, light wood used for inlays. It grows mainly in Austria, but it is widespread throughout the northern hemisphere, from Japan to North America, passing through China and Europe. It is one of the lightest woods ever, tending to white, it is similar to lime or birch wood. The briar is used in the production of ancient secretaires .

Boxwood

With a yellowish color, it is a very compact and hard wood, of oriental origin, which is obtained from evergreen shrubs of the Buxaceae family. It is used for inlays and for all-round workings both as furniture finishes and as small objects and sculptures.

Chestnut

It is a hard, yellow-white wood, mostly used for rustic furniture. Since the Middle Ages it has been used in Europe, mainly in Spain, France and Italy. Particularly resistant, it was sometimes used to manufacture the supporting structures of fine furniture. It tends to darken over time and has good resistance to woodworms.
