La trama del film: Giulio B., anche se in pensione, continua a esercitare la sua vecchia professione, insegnare Antropologia culturale presso l'Accademia di belle Arti di Brera. Da un paio d'anni vive da solo. Sua moglie, dopo vent'anni di matrimonio, l'ha lasciato, per il momento. È ateo e ha una vera passione per le feste etnico-popolari. Dovunque ci sia una rappresentazione curiosa e intrigante, c'è lui a documentare, intervistare, e archiviare: è appunto il tentativo di assistere e riprendere una festa del fuoco di origini pre-cristiane che lo porta a smarrirsi in un bosco.
