Description
This beautiful "Annunciation" comes from invention prototype of Cerano painted (in pairs to a visitation) to decorate the triumphal arch erected in Santa Maria dei Miracoli presso San Celso for the celebrations of our Lady of August 1606. The canvas was so successful that be suddenly preserved, and intended for decoration of the sacristy of the sanctuary, where it is still today. So you try the large number of concurrent copies or replicas of immediate (like this one), still survived in Sant'Eustorgio, Santa Maria delle Grazie, in the chapel of the castle of Somma Lombarda. Ours, originally kept in a convent in Milan, is very close to that stored in the Basilica of Sant'Eustorgio. It was sold in the years ' 50 important compensating restoration performed by a family of craftsmen as payment. The painting was restored and the frame changed.
