A collage, mixed technique on cardboard. Signature and date 1990 at the bottom left. Spoerri was a Romanian dancer, painter and choreographer naturalized Swiss. He composed his collages by recovering objects left in the streets by the garage sales in all Europe, fallen from the stands or abandoned by the merchants at the end of the working day. These objects were used in his works taking on an immaterial and almost "spiritual" meaning. In this work, a black and white picture of an unknown past (the big portrait, the picture of a gravestone, a marine glimpse) the drawing depicting warplanes mixes with the ribbon of a military decoration and the reference to a German city. This might let the observer think about a homage to some fallen of the World War II. The work is presented in frame. 1990.
