Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. On the back there is a cartouche of the Esedra Art Gallery in Rome, with the data of the work (title, date, measurements) and authentication. The market scene, with the central figure of the onion seller, is a typical work of the Sicilian-born painter Antonio Pecoraro, who preferred figurative subjects, made drawing on the nineteenth-century realistic currents that enhanced and gave importance to the subjects of everyday life . His representations of busy peasant girls in the fields, or Parisians in the park are famous, scenes always appreciated by both the public and critics. Of a naturalist nature, however, an impressionist imprint is found in his brushstrokes, especially in the nuanced atmospheres. The work is presented in a style frame.
