Description

The text of the Proverbs of King Solomon translated by Casaregi is preceded, as indicated in the dedicatory letter of Anton Francesco Gori, who signs the preface, to Cardinal Angelo Maria Querini, by the French Idyll Les Arbres, by Paul Desforges-Maillard, in his text French and in the Latin version by the same cardinal with the translation by Casaregi. Giovanni Bartolomeo Casaregi (Genoa 1676 – Lucca 1755), academic of Crusca, was founder of the Genoese Arcadia, poet and critic. Beautiful engraved ornamental elements, on the title page, drop caps, headers and finials, embellish the text
