Description : Imagologia
Oil and acrylic on canvas. Signature, date and title on the back. Concetto Pozzati was an eclectic artist: after his debut in the Informal climate, the artist reworked the influences of international Pop Art in a personal key, always remaining linked to a simplified, ironic figuration, with surrealist atmospheres. The work presented can be traced back to Pozzati's artistic period of the 80s, 90s and 2000s, characterized by a dense and fleshy painting that records the artist's interest in everyday and affectionate objects; belongs to the series entitled "Imagologia", groups of faces depicted on the canvas in overlapping and crossings. Of this series the artist said: "these heads fear painting because they often only collect the sign. The mystery of a head is always visible but... the enigma is always an unexpected relationship. The heads resist (for how much longer? ) to banality because the differences between them are extreme. Should we deal with the past? The past is easier to look at. The heads do not let life escape from their confines. The face does not detach itself from the torn relic. The heads they have ceased to be arrogant. The heads, these heads, enter my calendar. Heads with barbed wire: fence of heads. These heads could come out and come back at any moment. All these, so many heads, need a break if not a ping-pong for two. Continue to make sense of these heads as a dialogue of different masks that bounce in the circularity of time and in persistent memorization." Work in frame.

Additional Information
Artist: Concetto Pozzati (1935-2017)
Concetto Pozzati, born in Vo' in 1935, studied first in Bologna, before continuing in Paris, at the atelier of his uncle Sepo, a well-known internationally renowned poster designer, and specializing in advertising graphics. After an informal debut, he approached pop themes. Pozzati's cold and metallic art is associated with surrealism, simple in its solutions but, in the same way, magical and fantastic. As happens in his work "For an impossible modification" (1964), in which a set of fruits relates to its pictorial double in a paradoxical way. This work, among the artist's best known, was exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1964 (the Maestro's first participation at the Biennale, which was followed by four other prestigious appearances: in 1972, 1982, 2007 and 2009). Pozzati taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, of which he was also director until 1973; he later taught at the Academies of Florence and Venice, the latter of which he passed to his friend Emilio Vedova to become full professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. He is an academic of San Luca. Concetto Pozzati's pictorial production goes through different phases: it starts from the informal climate of the late '50s, passing through the iconic works of the mid-'60s, attributable to the "Pop" period, up to the production of the '70s - the less known - which was affected by the conceptual and experimental climate of the time, to arrive at the dense and fleshy painting of the 80s, 90s and 2000s, which records the artist's interest in everyday and affectionate objects, up to the latest dazzling series, Vulvare, from 2016. Concetto Pozzati died in Bologna in 2017.Age: Contemporary

Technical specification: Oil on Canvas
