Description

Between 1914 and 1921, the Vienna publishing house M. Munf published its splendid Jugendstil illustrated calendars based on the illustrations that the painter and illustrator Willy Pogany had produced for the volume “Parsifal, or the Legend of the Holy Grail. Retold from Antient Sources with Acknowledgement to the Parsifal of Richard Wagner”, published in London by Harrap in 1912. Our copy presents the Calendar for 1915. The text, with verses by Richard Specht and musical bars taken from the Wagnerian opera, is accompanied by 12 full-color plates and framed by elaborate friezes in color and green. The illustrated editorial cover has been preserved.
