Description
Oil on canvas. The painting restored and reintelato, is part of an 18th-century furniture made to measure probably of representation of a stately home. Among the many subjects drawn from classicism, here Venus is depicted inside of the volcano while the latter shows the shield that he forged for Aeneas. The Golden frame continues under the painting to frame a mirror. Very popular was in use 700 to match mirrors, painted with the obvious aim to increase the brightness of the surroundings, in consonance with the spirit of lightness of the century.
