Already shown in "Domenico Induno and Jerome" Manusardi 1996 Study. The opera plays his charm in the melancholy look of the subject, the real Center of the composition; the background is so fast and purposefully mentioned and as the monochrome look nothing takes away the dark warning to the girl's face: lateral gaze, lowered, with the shiny eye, makes us feel the drama that is going through the life of the girl. While remaining fully in the canons of 19th-century genre painting, line crossed by two brothers production Induno, the composition has the "wing shot" that characterizes the best production of the two painters, by separating production from that other coeval authors, often pervaded by an anonymous sentimental Pietism.
