Description : Falaride fa gettare Perillo nel toro.
Oil on canvas. The scene depicts the event of Perillos, inventor of a new torture and execution device shaped like a metal bull, empty inside with a door on a side. Victims were locked inside and a fire was lit under the device to heat it up until making it red hot, so the victim inside died slowly and suffered a lot. Perillos proposed his invention to the tyrant of Agrigento Phalaris, who decided to test it on the inventor himself. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a gilded frame of early 1900s. 17th century.
