Oil on canvas. Signed at the bottom right. Signature and title on the back. Cristoforo De Amicis received his artistic training first at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, then at the Accademia di Brera in Milan, where he lived all his life, painting and teaching at the Academy. At the beginning of the 1930s, he temporarily gave up his career as a painter to devote himself to architecture, but then returned to figurative painting. During the Second World War he moved towards post-cubist expressions, but in the 1960s, due to his wife's severe depression, the artist moved towards a more intimate production, in which the theme of the nude and still life found a place. At the end of the 1970s he returned to painting landscapes of the Lodi countryside, such as the one shown here, which flanked still lifes, floral compositions and Madonnas: in this production De Amicis moved towards a style close to Chiarism, which was very successful. The painting is presented in a frame.
