Description
Fascinating this copy, printed in Lyon by the King's Printer Pillehotte, of one of the edicts that marked the French history of the XVI century: Henry III, attacked by the Sainte Ligue which supported the Duke of Guise as a pretender to the throne with the support of Spain, revokes the edicts of tolerance towards the Protestants and with the Treaty of Nemours (7 July 1585) orders the reformed subjects to reunite with the Catholic Church or to leave the country: this is the edict promulgated in Paris on 18 July 1585 which implements the Treaty of Nemours. On the frontispiece the royal coat of arms. Engraved headpiece and initials
