Mixed media on paper. On the back, the artist's stamp with signature, date and title (partially legible). Caccioni, an artist who was born, trained and still lives in Bologna, is one of the protagonists of a generation that has now reached a definitive linguistic maturity and occupies a prominent place within the contemporary artistic panorama. His research mainly uses unusual materials such as acetates, PVC and, more recently, stage backdrops from 19th-century theatrical works, on which he intervenes by painting shapes drawn from a personal memory and from suggestions coming from different cultures and historical periods. A recurring element in Luca Caccioni's work is writing, a self-signifying sign that designs the work and is capable of recounting thoughts; working by superimposition, the images are constructed by adding or subtracting color on the various supports. Photographic print on aluminum and plexiglass. On the back the signature, title and serial number 1/5 engraved in the aluminum. Also present label of the Galleria Fotografia Italiana with the complete data of the work. The artist originally from Basilicata but living in Milan, initially known for black and white photography, began a new path of research on color from the beginning of the 21st century. This includes the personal exhibition held in 2005 at the Galleria Fotografica in Milan, entitled Aspirazione, of which it has been said: "No narration, no recognizable reality, only evocations obtained through the evaporation of colors, in many scattered clouds: more painting than photography". The work presented here belongs to this trend.

The Bonfire under the Snow, 1979

Oil on glass. At the bottom right are the signature and date, accompanied by the artist's symbol, the stylized figurine of a man in a wheelchair. It is a work on glass by the painter Mario Previ, who has lived and painted in a wheelchair since the age of eighteen, due to quadriplegia resulting from a dive into his Taro. He said of himself: "The world, the passage of time, from this point of view (the wheelchair) teach many things. You learn to wake up every morning with a purpose, even if your body is in pain, if every gesture generates suffering and depending on others and giving up could be an easy solution. And instead, art, painting, together with the serenity of my world, of friends, give me incredible energy. They saved me, giving me the strength to live". In 1974, three years after the accident, inspired by a television program on Yugoslavian naïve painters, in particular by the works on glass of Mijo Kovacic, Previ began to paint and learn the art of painting on glass as a self-taught, until he to make himself known and appreciated for his paintings. In his naifs Mario Previ tells a reality that has almost disappeared, real stories albeit in a fairy-tale tone, he revives lost traditions, slices of life that belonged to other generations, those of peasant civilization (from which he also comes), but what emerges most from his visions are the "forë", those that could once be heard in the "firossi", the traditional evenings of the hamlets of Parma dedicated to meeting to tell anecdotes, stories and historical curiosities, often in front of the fireplace fire, when outside it was cold and snowing. The work is presented in a frame.

Bronze bas-relief. Signed lower left, initials AG upper right. On the back of the panel, there is the name, title and date of the work. Achille Guzzardella, a Milanese sculptor-painter, is particularly renowned for his sculptural portraits of well-known personalities from the Italian art world. Among others, he portrayed Vittorio Sgarbi, who called him 'the fighter of clay' and also 'Achille who paints with his soul'. Eclectic and refined, he has also created other subjects, using different techniques. Oneiric in his oil painting and always close to man in his sculptural work, Guzzardella fascinates art lovers with his concreteness expressed through his personal formal research.

Oil painting on canvas. Dated and signed on the back. Born in Seregno, Danilo Martinis was trained with Osvaldo Minotti. Painter and designer, he has furnished prestigious residences all over the world, his works are particularly appreciated in the United Arab Emirates and in Russia. He loves to express his thoughts through graphic-figurative images rendered through geometric effects and chromatic games, using mainly female figures as interpreters. In this work he proposes a close-up of a female face, enhancing its expressiveness through the play of colors in the ranges of yellow.

Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. The composition features a vase of flowers, a silver metal bowl and a small framed painting resting on a dresser, on a shaded background. The artist, originally from Liguria but trained in Turin, devoted himself mainly to landscapes and portraits, but also created several still lifes: his works are dominated by the luministic dimension, created with plays of shaded and blending colors into each other. Oil on canvas applied to board. Signed lower left. On the back there is a cartouche with expert authentication dated 1944 and signed by a Milanese art critic. In the vast plain, green but with few trees, which recalls the Lombard plains, two farmers work near a pond, close to their farmhouse; in the background you can glimpse the mountain peaks of the Alpine chain. The subject is part of the production of strong naturalistic matrix of the painter, born in Modena but artistically raised in Milan and its surroundings, places that were frequent themes of his landscape production. The painting is presented in a period frame.

Charcoal on rough white paper. At the bottom right the artist's initials and the date 9-V-943. On the back there is a paper label with the data of the work. This is a preparatory sketch for a figure from the composition "The Wedding at Cana", created in the same year. Painter, art teacher, exponent of twentieth-century Italian figurative painting, as well as a militant anti-fascist (he was a partisan), Augusto Colombo during the years of the Second World War executed a series of works depicting the horrors of war, but also various sacred subjects. In Colombo the rejection of the post-impressionist tradition was total, as he designed each painting as a story, constructed by the composition of gestures and details, but without losing synthesis. His stylistic choice favored the large composition, where the human architecture builds, gradually, the larger architecture of the story. The sketch proposed here emphasizes the vigor of the figures painted by Augusto Colombo, where the physical structure underlines and highlights the gesture. The drawing is presented in a frame.

Lively composition with three masks, two that refer to the commedia dell'arte while the third seems more like a carnival mask (Mastro Geppetto?), next to an hourglass, a candle and a book. Olmedo Mezzoli's production aims to re-propose the figures of the classical world in a modern key. Framed work.
