Antique Planter Neo-Baroque Walnut Decorations Switzerland '800
Black Forest Switzerland Late 19th century
Black Forest flowerpot from the end of the 19th century. Made of richly carved walnut. The four feet, like the support trunk, are carved in the form of twisted branches on which ivy branches are twisted, resting on two feet there are two carved dogs. The branches rise up the trunk decorating on all sides a manger resting on the trunk. On the front we have a complex carved iconography that celebrates hunting, all made in a refined carving. On the top an eagle grabs a snake in its beak, in the center a wild boar hunting scene in which a hunting dog is suffering the escape of the prey that overwhelms it, below we find a panoply with bow and quiver. A zinc basin allows to protect the carving from the humidity of the flowers. Small missing parts.
